Marvellous new menu this March at Windermere Hotel
Spring has sprung at the Applegarth Villa Hotel & Restaurant in Windermere with an exciting new menu.
This menu sees even more gluten free options with no compromise on taste or texture. In fact, removing heavy, bulky breads and pasta’s means flavour really shine through, something that is noted by all diners, not just those who are gluten intolerant.
Head Chef Joh Kelly has devised a menu offering local meats, fish and seafood as well as plenty of vegetables perfect for spring and into early summer. The menu is varied without being overwhelming with highlights including the Baked Brioche Roll (gluten free roll option) – Morecambe Bay Shrimps/Prawns/Garlic & Smoke Olive Oil, Corn Fed Chicken Breast – Shallot & Mussel Cream and Homemade Meringue – Crème Fraiche & Rhubarb Compote.
The Applegarth signature dishes are still available though don’t worry! The Cumbrian Fellbred Fillet Steak with all the trimmings (one of John’s sauces are super with it!), the cheese slate and the even so famous/popular/delicious Sticky Toffee Pudding (unbelievably gluten free too).
The new menu has also coincided with the confirmation the regular hand pull real ale available in the Applegarth Bar has been certified as gluten free. Collie Wobbles has long been a favourite with guest visiting from local and afar. Brewed by the award winning Watermill Brewing Company just down the road in Ings, Collie Wobbles is the perfect refreshing pint pre dinner, with dinner and most definitely post hike.
Applegarth Villa Hotel is in the centre of Windermere Village yet with views across the parks and of the fells from many of the rooms and suites as well as the restaurant.
